Wingding Conspiracy Theory Essay - 1108 Words

There are many crazy and wacky conspiracy theories that are contrived every day. Conspiracy theories can be made up by anyone, especially in today’s technology driven society. It all becomes questionable when proof is bought into the matter. Although they are not always true, people will go out of their way to think up silly things that may prove it correct. There are loads of theories that are proven to be false. Carefully dissecting each detail within the theory is the only way to be for sure whether it is true or false. Among all of the interesting conspiracy theories, are the sinister messages found in the Wingdings font. When NYC is typed in the Wingdings font in Microsoft Word, a skull and cross bones, a Star of David, and a†¦show more content†¦This point is easily proven true. For example, if someone types the word OLD in all capital letters in Wingdings font, a flag, a sad face, and a thumbs-down hand gesture will appear. There are endless amounts of things y ou could say this stands for. One being, flags are bad and they make you sad. It doesn’t make a lot of sense that the creators of the Wingdings font would take the time to make the letters O, L, and D, when put together, give that message about flags. Another example that contradicts Microsoft’s supposed hatred toward Jewish people is the word HAPPY. Again, if HAPPY is typed in capital letters in Wingdings font, a finger pointing down, a peace sign, two flags and the Star of Davis will appear. This word has no inside meaning, and if anything, proves that the creators are not against Jews because the word happy is a positive, and cheerful one. Many people also have concern about the characters Q-3-3-N-Y when typed in the Wingdings font. A plane, two tower - looking objects, a skull and cross bones, and a Star of David will appear if Q33NY is typed in the font. Q33NY is said to be the flight number or tail number of one of the planes that crashed into the twin towers. A ccording to squidoo.com, â€Å"This theory is easily shown to have no validity as none of the aircraft used on that day bore the designation of ‘Q33’. It is often suggested that ‘Q33’ was a reference to a bus route, typically alleged to be

Methods and Techniques Required to Produce Mayonnaise Free Essays

Making mayonnaise Abtract A combination of oil, water, egg yolk, and stabilizers was combined in an effort to produce mayonnaise. The final emulsion was a result of a trial and error process to perfect the timing and order of the addition of ingredients. The procedure was only attempted once. We will write a custom essay sample on Methods and Techniques Required to Produce Mayonnaise or any similar topic only for you Order Now It was concluded that adding the oil slowly to the egg yolk and adding the stabilizers at the end would produce a mayonnaise similar to manufactured mayonnaise. Introduction The purpose of this experiment is to determine the methods and techniques equired to produce mayonnaise. Mayonnaise is an emulsion, which means that it is a stable combination of two liquids that are immiscible. They key to this concept is that the combination must be stable. Water and oil, for example, do not combine to form an emulsion because of hydrogen bonds that form between each other in water molecules. These bonds prevent oil molecules from getting in. In order to create an emulsion, an emulsifier must be added to the combination. An emulsifier is a compound that stabilizes emulsions. These emulsifiers, which are also often added to soap, have long chains of carbon and hydrogen atoms with a hydrophilic (water loving) and hydrophobic (water fearing) ends. This allows them to form a stable bridge between the hydrophilic water and the hydrophobic oil. Lecithin, a phospholipid with a hydrophobic head and two hydrophobic tails found in egg yolks, is one example of how emulsifiers can take shape. This is relevant to the production of mayonnaise because mayonnaise is an emulsion legally defined as including â€Å"65% il and egg yolk†. The emulsifying agent in mayonnaise is the egg yolk, which is an emulsion of it’s own with †48% water, †16% proteins, †10% lecithin and †13% fats and cholesterol. Low-density lipoproteins (LDL), high-density lipoproteins (HDL) and various other proteins can be found in the yolk. HDL particles require an extra boost to improve their ability to act as an emulsifier because their particles are too large to coat the oil droplets without being separated from another. Wellness paper Essay Example For Students

Wellness paper Essay 101 Ways of doing It With Out Actually doing it This program totally wasnt what I expected it to be. To my surprise the whole thing was actually about relationships, and what to do on dates without having sex, and or sexual influence. Attending college is a very different experience. Its when most of us experience life situations and learn to make our own decisions. The problem is that many students, due to the influence of our society, decide to have sex because everybody else is doing it. But what many students dont realize is that there both rewards and consequences when dealing with sexual intercourse. This is an important issue, especially when most of my fellow peers believe in casual sex. I personally believe that sex is something that shouldnt be taking lightlyin other words, Im not anybodys booty call!!!! Anyways, back to the seminar. In the discussion, many of us realized that dates seem to be a thing of the past. No one really goes on a one on one date anymore. Its always a group thing, going out to a party or just hanging out. We will write a custom essay on Wellness paper specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now I cant even remember if Ive ever been on a real date myself. Relationships lack that solid foundation of one to one communication, which is probably why most teens have sex: its whats expected, yet nobody talks about it. During the seminar, we were educated in finding other ways to express ourselves and feelings to each other. Even though some were far-fetched and unrealistic (for example: a grave yard walk), some were actually feasible (example: a picnic). A few of the other suggestions included a K-mart party, which I personally wouldve evr thought of, but I guess it is another alternative to sex. Some of the more realistic ones included walks on the beach, athletic activities, dinner and a movie. Hopefully some of these ideas will be used around campus instead of sex. Many attending the meeting suggested other dating ideas such as horseback riding, test driving cars and playing golf. I didnt quite agree with them because a.) horses are big animals b.) I dont have a license and c.) I HATE golf!!!! Also during the seminar, we participated in an activity. We were split into groups, based on gender. The girls that attended the seminar wrote down some of the things they like to do and some of the things they hate, the boys in the room did the same. When we compared each others answers we found that we do not have that many differences. There were some misunderstandings, but we all generally wanted the same things. The guys ideal date was very similar to the girls; good conversation topped with a little romance. At the same time, stereotypes we cleared up; all guys dont think only about sex. But like anything in life, theres conflict: both the girls and the guys got into heated arguments about each others actions towards one another. The girls said that they hate it when a guy slap their ass, while the guys said that they hated it when girls get mad and decide to stop talking. Among the top ten things girls and guys hate about each other were: 1.) That all we really think about is sex, but we try to deny it, because we were always thought that t was wrong, and bad. 2.) We all want some attention. 3.) When guys brought there girls with them to hang out wither there buddies and are never formally introduced, so they feel awkward. 4.) Those guys also never listen to what girls say, even though we know that we are whiney, we just want you to show that you care .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 , .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 .postImageUrl , .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 , .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5:hover , .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5:visited , .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5:active { border:0!important; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5:active , .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5 .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u1e9ffdbebb421f733e797318618a6cf5:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Ebola Virus Essay In English. Eventually, both agreed to work on those problems after yelling for a good five or ten minutes. No matter what anybody says, the girls won in this seminar. They made valid points on what is totally disrespectful on the guys part. I did learn more then I expected to from this. Girls and the guys both had valid arguing gounds. It s just that .

Louise Brown the First Test-Tube Baby

Louise Brown the First Test-Tube Baby On July 25, 1978, Louise Joy Brown, the worlds first successful test-tube baby was born in Great Britain. Although the technology that made her conception possible was heralded as a triumph in medicine and science, it also caused many to consider the possibilities of future ill-use. Previous Attempts Every year, millions of couples try to conceive a child; unfortunately, many find that they cannot. The process to find out how and why they have infertility issues can be long and arduous. Before the birth of Louise Brown, those women who were found to have fallopian tube blockages (approximately twenty percent of infertile women) had no hope of becoming pregnant. Usually, conception occurs when an egg cell (ovum) in a woman is released from an ovary, travels through a fallopian tube, and is fertilized by the mans sperm. The fertilized egg continues to travel while it undergoes numerous cell divisions. It then rests in the uterus to grow. Women with fallopian tube blockages cannot conceive because their eggs cannot travel through their fallopian tubes to get fertilized. Dr. Patrick Steptoe, a gynecologist at Oldham General Hospital, and Dr. Robert Edwards, a physiologist at Cambridge University, had been actively working on finding an alternative solution for conception since 1966. While Drs. Steptoe and Edwards had successfully found a way to fertilize an egg outside a womans body, they were still troubled by problems after replacing the fertilized egg back into the womans uterus. By 1977, all of the pregnancies resulting from their procedure (about 80) had lasted only a few, short weeks. Lesley Brown became different when she successfully passed the first few weeks of pregnancy. Lesley and John Brown Lesley and John Brown were a young couple from Bristol who had been unable to conceive for nine years. Lesley Brown had blocked fallopian tubes. Having gone from doctor to doctor for help to no avail, she was referred to Dr. Patrick Steptoe in 1976. On November 10, 1977, Lesley Brown underwent the very experimental in vitro (in glass) fertilization procedure. Using a long, slender, self-lit probe called a laparoscope, Dr. Steptoe took an egg from one of Lesley Browns ovaries and handed it to Dr. Edwards. Dr. Edwards then mixed Lesleys egg with Johns sperm. After the egg was fertilized, Dr. Edwards placed it into a special solution that had been created to nurture the egg as it began to divide. Previously, Drs. Steptoe and Edwards had waited until the fertilized egg had divided into 64 cells (about four or five days later). This time, however, they decided to place the fertilized egg back into Lesleys uterus after just two and a half days. Close monitoring of Lesley showed that the fertilized egg had successfully embedded into her uterus wall. Then, unlike all the other experimental in vitro fertilization pregnancies, Lesley passed week after week and then month after month with no apparent problems. The world began to talk about this amazing procedure. Ethical Problems Lesley Browns pregnancy gave hope to hundreds of thousands of couples not able to conceive. Yet, as many cheered this new medical breakthrough, others were worried about future implications. The most important question was whether this baby was going to be healthy. Had being outside the womb, even for just a couple of days, harmed the egg? If the baby had medical problems, did the parents and doctors have a right to play with nature and thus bring it into the world? Doctors also worried that if the baby wasnt normal, would the process be blamed whether or not it was the cause? When does life begin? If human life begins at conception, are doctors killing potential humans when they discard fertilized eggs? (Doctors may remove several eggs from the woman and may discard some that have been fertilized.) Is this process a foreshadowing of what is to come? Will there be surrogate mothers? Was Aldous Huxley predicting the future when he described breeding farms in his book Brave New World? Success! Throughout Lesleys pregnancy, she was closely monitored, including the use of ultrasounds and amniocentesis. Nine days before her due date, Lesley developed toxemia (high blood pressure). Dr. Steptoe decided to deliver the baby early via Cesarean section. At 11:47 p.m. on July 25, 1978, a five-pound 12-ounce baby girl was born. The baby girl, named Louise Joy Brown, had blue eyes and blond hair and seemed healthy. Still, the medical community and the world were preparing to watch Louise Brown to see if there were any abnormalities that couldnt be seen at birth. The process had been a success! Though some wondered if the success had been more luck than science, continued success with the process proved that Dr. Steptoe and Dr. Edwards had accomplished the first of many test-tube babies. Today, the process of in vitro fertilization is considered commonplace and utilized by infertile couples around the world.

What Is Source Code in Computer Programming

What Is Source Code in Computer Programming Source  code is the list of human-readable instructions that a programmer writes- often in a word processing program- when he is developing a program. The source code is run through a  compiler  to turn it into machine code, also called object code, that a computer can understand and execute. Object code consists primarily of 1s and 0s, so it isnt human-readable.   Source Code Example Source code and object code are the before and after states of a computer program that is compiled. Programming languages that compile their code include C, C, Delphi, Swift, Fortran, Haskell, Pascal and many others. Here is an example of C  language source code: /* Hello World program */#includestdio.hmain(){printf(Hello World)} You dont have to be a computer programmer to tell that this code has something to do with printing Hello World. Of course, most source code is much more complex than this example. It is not unusual for software programs to have millions of lines of code. Windows 10 operating system is reported to have about 50 million lines of code. Source Code Licensing Source code can be either proprietary or open. Many companies closely guard their source code. Users can use the compiled code, but they cannot see or modify it. Microsoft Office is an example of proprietary source code. Other companies post their code on the internet where it is free to anyone to download. Apache OpenOffice is an example of open source software code. Interpreted Program Languages Code Some programming languages such as JavaScript are not compiled into machine code but are  interpreted  instead. In these cases, the distinction between source code and object code does not apply because there is only one code. That single code is the source code, and it can be read and copied. In some cases, developers of this code may intentionally encrypt it to prevent viewing. Programming languages that are interpreted include Python, Java, Ruby, Perl, PHP, Postscript, VBScript and many others.

Zara business model in comparison with others in apparel industry Assignment

Zara business model in comparison with others in apparel industry - Assignment Example A lot of companies in the industry face the challenge of being able to predict and even respond to the fast changing trends in a manner that is swift that will be able to meet the consumer demands. In this paper I will focus on Zara business model that continually changes with the changing customer demands. I will compare the model with other business models in the industry by using Gap.inc Company as the proxy company that will be responsible in representing all other firms in the industry. It will be used in making comparisons with the Zara business model. Gap inc. specializes in clothing, personal care products and accessories. This company was the former industry leader before Zara came to the limelight. Zara’s model Zara runs a fast fashion model that has come to be known as the business model innovation. Zara’s model has three basic components which include concept, capabilities and value drivers. It has the concept of maintaining design. This is achieved through its production and processes in distribution that will enable it to respond fast to shifts in demands f consumers. It emphasizes on giving consumers what they want by putting their focus on demand and not on the supply. It maintains control over its production through in-house manufacturing and also with strategy partnerships located near its headquarters. 80% of its materials are made in Europe and 50% made in the Zara controlled facilities in Spain. Herman (2008) indicates that Zara has a unique approach to marketing and advertising. This is because it spends 0.3% of its revenues on advertising and marketing. It uses the location, layout of the store and life cycles of their products as marketing tool i.e. it locates all stores in the prime retail district in order to do visibility marketing. It also does its marketing by doing a lot of investment in the layout of its stores by making them look trendy. This model encourages the customers get to the store very often and also encour ages them to buy on the spot because of the fear that if they don’t buy at that time, the product will sell out. Zara has a core philosophy that quality and creativity with fast response to market demands yields results that are profitable. In terms of the use of information and technology, Zara has a different approach as compared to other companies in the industry that are represented by Gap inc. Communication protocols are different from others because it spends 0.5%of the total revenue on information technology and 0.5% on the employees of technology. It uses human intelligence and information technology to create hybrid in information flow from the stores to the headquarters. Using of the human intelligence on information technology made it successful since it resulted to inventories that are well managed, reduced cost from merchandise that was obsolete and also a link between the demand and supply. This strategy is advantageous in terms of cost to the operations of Zara and responds fast to the changing demands. According to Badil, (2009), Zara is able to change its designs in a fast way and quickly due to the proximity it has to the stores. It has departmental stores that modify designs of other people and send them to Asian factories that are low cost. This model supports the notion of stocking little while ensuring that it updates the collections more often. Zara does restocking of new designs twice a week as compared to other competitors in the market. Consumers in the market have characteristics of quickly losing interest in a fashion that stays for a while in the market and that is why Zara is involved in observing the trends and often changing fashion.
